The caring, professional staff of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center understand your needs. Because we share your excitement, we have created a variety of programs and services that enable you to return home with your baby feeling confident, knowledgeable, and prepared.
At Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, our first priority is you. To us, care means more than just having state-of –the- art medical equipment and well-trained professionals. From an extensive offering of education classes to ongoing support after the birth of your baby, our Women and Children’s Center is designed to meet your needs.
Warm, Comfortable Surroundings
The Women and Children’s Center at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center was the first in Northern Nevada to go beyond the standard clinical approach to childbirth. Our unique design enables soon-to-be mothers to stay in one room for the entire birthing process. Each room provides the comforts and atmosphere of home. And should the need arise; emergency equipment is conveniently located within each room.
The Women and Children’s Center encourages a family centered experience. Partners are encouraged to attend during the entire birthing process. We also welcome any immediate family members you would like to have present during the birth of your baby.
The birth of your baby is a special experience. After delivery we place your baby skin to skin and heart to heart. This keeps your baby warm and helps your baby adapt to life outside the womb. Because the first few hours following the birth of your baby are important both physically and emotionally, we encourage you to bond and initiate breastfeeding with your baby. Additionally, we keep you and your baby together throughout the hospital stay, this is called “rooming-in”.
Post partum rooms are private and feature accommodations for your partner, as well as a restroom complete with a shower. These rooms also offer a television and DVD player. Education videos are available.
Special needs, special babies
On those rare occasions when you or your newborn needs special medical attention, Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center’s caring professionals are ready to respond. Our fully-equipped nursery and delivery rooms feature state-of-the-art medical equipment to stabilize and care for newborns and mothers. Our nurses are certified in neonatal resuscitation by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association.
Convenient, Quality Care
One of the ways Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center serves the region to make it the healthiest in Nevada is by offering a prenatal program for Medicaid-eligible women. The Maternal Obstetrical management (MOMs) program provides medical care for women through their pregnancy and six weeks following the birth of their baby. This nationally acclaimed, award-winning program ensures that all area residents have access to pre- and post-natal medical care.
